Pearl Jam, grup musik alternatif asal Seattle, AS, kembali merilis album live -nya. Penulis mencatat hanya dua album live yang dirilis Pearl Jam sampai saat ini, yaitu Live On Two Legs (1998) dan yang terbaru Live On Ten Legs (Jan, 2011), walaupun diskografi live album yang dirangkum Wikipedia menyatakan lebih dari dua album. Tapi terus terang penulis hanya mendengarkan  dua album live tsb. Kalau yang lain mungkin akan penulis dengar suatu saat nanti.

Pearl Jam; Live On Ten Legs (2011)

Sekilas, Pearl Jam adalah band yang berdiri tahun 1990, dimasa pada saat itu jenis musik Grunge mulai berkibar. Ada yang bilang Nirvana mempelopori musik Grunge, dan Pearl Jam adalah band yang sukses jualan musik Grunge.

Berbeda dengan album Live On Two Legs yang menyajikan rekaman tur Pearl Jam selama tahun 1998, Album live terbaru ini menyajikan pilihan rekaman tur Pearl Jam dari tahun 2003 sampai 2010. Dan terasa bahwa band ini lebih "menggigit" di album live daripada album rekamannya. Terasa ada energi semangat dalam bermusik dan penghayatan yang baik pada lagu pelan.

Yang menarik adalah Pearl Jam menyertakan dua lagu cover (lagu atau musik orang/band lain yang dinyanyikan kembali) dan mencantumkannya sebagai pembuka album. Pilihan aneh sebetulnya, apalagi lagu Daughter (dari album Vs) tidak termasuk, padahal lagu ini sangat dikenal atau populer dikalangan penggemar Pearl Jam.

Di album live ini, Pearl Jam seakan membuktikan kepada penggemarnya bahwa musik mereka masih relevan sampai saat ini. Bagi yang belum pernah melihat langsung band ini manggung secara live, saya rasa album ini cukup mewakili atmosfer dari penampilan panggung dari Pearl Jam.
